Walter weighed up the possibilities. On the one hand, he knew Manaka's Pokemon could be troublemakers. And certain Pokemon of his own were more than happy to start a fight. But if Manaka visited often and wanted to have her Pokemon out, she should be able to do so. And since they often frought side by side, it would be best if thier Pokemon were familiar with each other.
"...Yes. Just let me have a word with Chaos and Robbie." He called over the Luxray and the Stufful, crouching down to kneel and speaking to them softly. "Manaka's Pokemon are welcome here. Do not start any fights." They were welcome to hit back if they started something though. The two Pokemon nodded (Chaos with a soft growl) and Walter stood, nodding to Manaka.
"Robbie doesn't like to be touched." He warned her, in case she tried to reach out for him.
It was probably a good thing that he chose to tell her that now. She had definitely been eying Robbie, so it would have only been a matter of time otherwise. As things were, she simply nodded, flashing him a beaming smile as she chirped back, "Okay! Thank you very much!"
She shifted her bag off her shoulder, rooting around for the pokéballs inside. If Walter cared to count, he would notice that she let loose only five of them: Charlotte, Chiffon, Snickerdoodle, Anko, and another berry-like Pokémon he hadn't met before. Like Manaka herself, her Pokémon had no problem immediately making themselves at home—except, oddly enough, for Chiffon, who remained close by Manaka's heels.
Several Pokemon came forward to greet Manakas, either curious to meet them or welcoming back old friends. Darkness swooped in immediately to see Snickerdoodle, cawing to his daughter and preening her affectionately and Assumption approached Charlotte, beaming.
"Charlotte! Charlotte!" He called to her brightly. "I'm like you now." A ghost and fire type! He showed her by setting his club alight with a twirl.
Walter watched over them carefully, to make sure no immediate violence broke out, then moved to the kitchen. "Would you like a drink?"
Charlotte let out a trilling sound as Assumption twirled his club, sounding quite impressed with the change. Snickerdoodle, meanwhile, puffed and cawed like a teenager who thought she was getting to old for her father's doting.
Manaka must have found all this cute, because she clapped her hands together, laughing lightly at the scene before her. When Walter moved toward the kitchen, however, she spun swiftly on her toes and followed. "Mm, if it wouldn't be any trouble!"
Darkness didn't care. You're in his house, you deal with his doting and petnames, stardust. Assumption beamed, dancing with the club for Charlotte's entertainment.
Walter's Dartrix, Reed, was the only Pokemon to follow them, flapping up to Walter's shoulder and puffing up for attention. He paid the bird no mind, heating up the kettle. "It's no trouble. I have coffee and a few teas. What would you prefer?"
Reed didn't like being ignored, fluffing up even more. Notice him in his glory!!
"I like coffee more, but... Ah, do you have sugar and cream to go with it? I don't like it black."
The conversation was almost deceptively mundane. Despite Reed's obvious plea for attention, Manaka didn't remark on the Dartrix, even after he fluffed his feathers. Chiffon, who had been following at Manaka's heels, tilted her head up at the bird... And then chirped a cute little noise that cut through the air of the kitchen, immediately garnering Manaka's attention.
"Eh? What is it, Chiffon?" she asked, kneeling down to scoop Chiffon up into her arms.
Chiffon didn't answer, silently shooting an impish look in Reed's direction.
"Yes." Walter made their drinks; his black with some sugar, Manaka's with cream and sugar. Reed looked ready to puff himself up even more when he caught sight of Chiffon getting such easy attention. He was on the verge of becoming perfectly round in shape when Walter finally lifted a finger and scratched under his chin. Almost immediately he simmered down, cooing and visibly deflating.
Although he still shot Chiffon a haughty look.
Walter moved them over to the sitting room, putting their drinks down and sitting on the sofa. He placated Reed with a small piece of meat he had taken from the fridge, after asking the owl to perch ont he sofa so he could see Manaka easier. "You haven't met Reed, have you? He can be a fussy Pokemon."
Manaka made herself comfortable on the sofa as well, tucking her feet under her body and letting Chiffon slide into the space between her and Walter. Stroking the scruff of Chiffon's neck, she giggled at Walter's comment, answering his words with a quick shake of the head. "Mm-mm! And you haven't met Ohagi, but... Ah, she and Anko have already wandered off."
Unknowingly to them, Ohagi and Anko were probably meeting with Joseph, who'd be very impressed by Ohagi's eagerness to battle and showing off his claws to them, in a friendly 'here's my battling claws!' kind of way.
Walter couldn't help watching Chiffon. She was much bigger than other canine-like Pokemon but he still remembered Prince, the Sylveon who had tried to stop Henry from attacking him, and it was a powerful connection that helped ease his nerves around her. "What kind of Pokemon is Ohagi? Is she another fairy type?" He had noticed that Manaka's Pokemon were typically pink and had the same sort of aesthetic about them.
It probably helped that Chiffon didn't seem especially interested in Walter, curling up against Manaka's thigh and letting her trainer pet her while she chattered away. "Oh! No, she's a Bounsweet. A grass-type. They're really cute! They look a bit like Anko did, before she evolved.. Ah, though I don't think you ever saw her while she was still a Cherubi. She evolved before we visited the Sevii Islands..."
