Caught during a trip to see Walter in Ecruteak, Dango is quite cowardly. Even now that he can spend his time in the safety of the indoors, he prefers to hide in darkness, and can usually be found lurking in hard-to-reach places under the furniture. This is, at least in part, thanks to his complete refusal to trust any person or Pokémon besides Manaka; whenever anyone else finds him exposed, he waddles back to his hiding place as fast as his little stem will carry him. However, underneath that skittish exterior lies a mind that is very clever and very cruel. The truth is, Dango enjoys tormenting others—but only when he thinks he do so without consequence. He loves picking on those weaker than him, and those gullible enough to believe his actions were mere accidents caused by clumsiness. Appropriately, he's a vicious battler when he has the advantage, but shrinks away from conflict when he doesn't.
